JOSH FOR MERIDEN

At Large Candidate for City Council

Increase Fiscal Responsibility

  • taxpayers are already paying more than their fair share.

Make Meriden More Affordable

  • Making Meriden a more affordable place to live is critical to the City’s future

Take a Practical Approach to Downtown

  • The city should not embark on another multi-million dollar revitalization project without making the primary goal to improve the business areas to attract new business and private investment. The court complex was great for the city from the last redevelopment, but a focus must be placed on more than new sidewalks and lamp posts. Meriden’s taxpayers paid a lot for a downtown revitalization which did little to nothing to give businesses incentive to move there. Attracting private investment is not easy, but must be the primary goal. A dramatic overhaul of the buildings is necessary in order to draw enough business interest to benefit the taxpayers.
  • By creating a dynamic space for public dialogue, performance, and outdoor gatherings of all sorts, downtown could become the true heart of the city.

Listen to Every Voice

  • Making sure all Meriden residents can have their views represented.

Remove the Hub

  • It is the right move and should be a catalyst for Meriden’s next downtown revitalization project. Maybe a large business would be interested in the inner-city area. Businesses are becoming more interested in inner-city areas which were abandoned so many years ago. A primary concern here must be the flooding issues.

Reduce Petty Street Crime

  • Return Meriden’s Police Officers to the streets through the popular community police program.
