Charlie's Experience.

- Since 1989, Charlie has been the Executive Director of Community Mediation, Inc., an agency that promotes peace and justice by enabling individuals, groups, and communities to resolve conflicts through mediation, facilitation, and other nonviolent means.
- Former Sunday School teacher and Lay Leader of local UCC congregation, the Church of Christ in Yale University, since 1975
- Former member of the Executive Committee of the Community-Labor Alliance
- Past President of East Rock Neighborhood Association in New Haven
- Former Co-Chair of the Board of the National Association for Community Mediation
- Former Chair of the Board of the Columbus House Emergency Shelter in New Haven and former member of the Board of the Pension Rights Center in Washington D.C.
- Connecticut attorney since 1975, and member of the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association.
- Recipient of Interfaith Cooperative Ministries' Mustard Seed Award in 1999 for establishing the Interracial Dialogue Project
