Corporations |
I will work to change corporate welfare, as we know it. Corporations make major campaign contribution, and get enormous tax breaks and giveaways at taxpayers’ expense.
|
|
DeLauro voted for 10 years of giveaways to corporate agribusiness and large farms. She voted for the Private Securities Litigation Act of 1995 making it easier for corporations and CEO’s to lie, cheat and steal. |
Campaign Finance |
Elected officials must be accountable to all voters. I will accept no PAC money. I will be responsible to the people of the 3rd District, not just campaign contributors. |
|
DeLauro raised over $250,000
from PACs in the last election, far more than she needed or used for her campaign. |
Environment |
I will protect our waterways and reduce pollution. I have opposed irresponsible projects—the Long Island Sound cable and the Long Wharf Mall—that harm the environment while offering little help to the local economy. |
|
DeLauro remained silent until after the Long Island Sound cable was nearly complete before voicing her objections. DeLauro supported the ill-conceived plan for a Long Wharf Mall, ignoring concerns over traffic and pollution. |
Middle East |
The U.S. must use its enormous influence to help the Israeli government and Palestinian authorities negotiate a peaceful settlement. One-sided support escalates the conflict and destabilizes the world’s most volatile region. |
|
DeLauro places sole blame upon the Palestinian leadership for violence and civilian deaths, and advocates for one-sided support to Israel. |
Public Debate |
I have made my positions clear on these and other issues. Let the candidates debate. Let the voters decide. |
|
DeLauro has played it safe by not taking stands on most issues.
She has debated other candidates only twice in 12
years. |
Family Values |
We cannot legislate the definition of "a family",
The Defense of Marriage Act attempts to do this. I would have voted against it. |
|
DeLauro voted for Defense of Marriage Act, to deny homosexuals the right to marry. |
Healthcare |
I want to make sure every person receives healthcare. We can do this by cutting out insurance companies and HMOs, if we use the Single Payer Universal Healthcare System. |
|
DeLauro does not support Single Payer Universal Healthcare System. |
